
Split Weekend Begins Friday in Corvallis

The Ducks close out the month of April at the OSU High Performance and Desert Heat Classic.
EUGENE, Ore. – The penultimate weekend of the 2023 regular season begins Friday with the OSU High Performance in Corvallis, Ore. The opening night of the two-day meet features a distance carnival that includes invitational sections of the 1500 meters.
The Ducks' weekend carries into Saturday with the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz.

James Gormley, a 2022 NCAA West Preliminary qualifier, is scheduled to make his season debut Friday night. He'll be joined in the invitational section of the 1500 meters by Luke Affolder who ran a season's best of 3:49.52 at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 15).
The Ducks' weekend in Corvallis begins Friday at 2 p.m. (PT) with freshman Madyson Kannon in the 400-meter hurdles.
Oregon will feature its sprints, jumps and throws groups at the Desert Heat meet which starts Saturday with the women's hammer—and Shelby Moran—at 12 p.m. Moran is slated to return to competition at 2:30 p.m. with teammates Mine De Klerk, Jaida Ross and Jorinde van Klinken in the discus. All four rank inside the top 80 in the nation this season including NCAA leader van Klinken.
The early portion of the Desert Heat Classic will also include the women's long jump with Alysah Hickey coming off an outdoor best of 6.71m/22-0.25 at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 15). She enters the weekend ranked third in the NCAA in the event.
Also among the national top 10 is senior Lexi Ellis who also posted an outdoor PB at the Mt. SAC Relays. She got out to a mark of 13.60m/44-7.5 in the triple jump, a measure that currently ranks seventh in the NCAA.
Jonah Tactay, scheduled to compete in both horizontal jumps Saturday, enters the weekend inside the Pac-12 top 10 in both events. He's fifth in the conference in the triple jump (15.14m/49-8.25), chasing his lifetime best of 15.45m/50-8.25 from February.
The schedule of running events begins at 5 p.m. with the hurdles. The women's race will feature three of the top-15 performers in the NCAA this season including UO freshman Aaliyah McCormick (13.03). She is facing a showdown with Talie Bonds of Arizona (12.65) and Myreanna Bebe of Iowa (12.96).
Aside from relay duties, Micah Williams is set to make his season debut in the 100 meters at 7 p.m. He is one of three Ducks in section one of the event with Ryan Mulholland and Xavier Nairne. On the women's side, Jadyn Mays headlines the UO entries with an all-conditions best of 11.09 from the Mt. SAC Relays.
In the final event of the day, the 4x400-meter relay team of Jordyn Blake, Ella Clayton, Shaniya Hall and Katriina Wright will look to lower their season best of 3:33.74 from the Mt. SAC Relays two weeks ago. All four are also entered in individual events earlier in the program.
