Ducks Sending 10 to NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team will send 10 qualifiers, nine individuals and one relay, to the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships. This year's national meet will take place March 10-11 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. Entries were announced Tuesday evening. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ and through the ESPN app.

Elliott Cook
Event: Mile
Qualifying Mark: 3:55.34 [No. 11 overall qualifier]

First appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … ran a lifetime best of 3:55.34 at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 11) … became the No. 7 performer in program history … entered with a PB of 3:59.02 from last season's Razorback Invitational … at the UW Invitational, ran a lifetime best of 1:46.93 over 800 meters (Jan. 28); fourth UO man to dip below 1:47 indoors … time ranks 11^th nationally this season.

Lexi Ellis
Event: Triple Jump
Qualifying Mark: 13.50m/44-3.5 [No. 9 overall qualifier]

Second appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … measured a season best of 13.50m/44-3.5 during the Texas Tech Open (Jan. 28) … first of two wins this season … just six centimeters off lifetime best (13.56m) from the 2020 season … followed with a 13.40m/43-11.75 at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 11) … secured second win at the Ken Shannon Invitational (Feb. 24) in Seattle; on half approach, got out to 13.12m/43-0.5 … previously qualified for NCAA Indoors in 2020.

Alysah Hickey
Event: Long Jump
Qualifying Mark: 6.79m/22-3.5 [No. 2 overall qualifier]

Second appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … finished fourth (6.53m/21-5.25) at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham … took down her own school record with a 6.79m/22-3.5 performance at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 10) … measure puts her seventh in the world this year and 12^th on the all-time collegiate performance list … best indoor jump in Pac-12 conference history.

Klaudia Kazimierska
Event: Mile
Qualifying Mark: 4:32.03 [No. 7 overall qualifier]

First appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … became the No. 2 performer in UO history with 4:32.03 performance at the Arkansas Qualifier (Feb. 17) … replaced previous PB of 4:33.67 from a week earlier at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 10); a mark that put her in the program top 10 for the first time … 1200-meter leg (3:17.17 split) of DMR that posted a time of 10:49.07 at Arkansas Qualifier; third-fastest time in NCAA history and second on the UO all-time list … ran 2:05.43 over 800 meters at the UW Invitational (Jan. 28).

Jadyn Mays

Qualifying Mark(s): 7.13 [No. 6 overall qualifier]; 22.93 [No. 8 overall qualifier]

Second appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … finished third (7.11) in the 60 meters at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham … ran a season-best 7.13 in a runner-up showing at the Ken Shannon Last Chance (Feb. 25) … completed the 60-200 sweep at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque with winning times of 7.15 and 22.86, respectively … first sub-23 indoor performance of her career; time adjusted to 22.93 for altitude … fifth-fastest woman in UO history in the event … won 60 (7.25) and 200 (23.18) at the season-opening Cougar Classic in Spokane.

Aaliyah McCormick
Event: 60m Hurdles
Qualifying Mark: 8.01 [No. 5 overall qualifier]

First appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … established lifetime best of 8.01 in a runner-up finish at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 11) … tied for the second-fastest performance in UO history … matched that time to win the event at the Ken Shannon Last Chance (Feb. 24) … recorded first sub-8.10 performance with an 8.07 to win the Texas Tech Open (Jan. 28) … one of two freshman in the national field … carries a personal best of 7.51 over 60 meters.

Jaida Ross
Event: Shot Put
Qualifying Mark: 18.23m/59-9.75 [No. 6 overall qualifier]

First appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships … unleashed a lifetime best of 18.23m/59-9.75 for a victory at the Ken Shannon Last Chance … just the second woman in program history to go 18 meters in the shot put, trailing only teammate Jorinde Van Klinken … finished third at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 11) in Albuquerque with a toss of 17.74m/58-2.5 … opened the indoor season with a 17.40m/57-1 measure at the UW Preview (Jan. 14) … entered the year with an indoor PB of 15.94m/52-3.75 from last season.

Izzy Thornton-Bott
Event: Mile
Qualifying Mark: 4:32.69 [No. 9 overall qualifier]

Second appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships; first as an individual qualifier … finished third with DMR at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships; ran opening leg … ran a lifetime best of 4:32.69 in the mile at the Arkansas Qualifier (Feb. 17) … No. 5 performer in Oregon history … earlier in the meet, anchored the DMR—4:30.68 split—to its qualifying mark of 10:49.07, the third-fastest effort in NCAA history … also ran mile times of 4:33.15 (Feb. 10 in Boston) and 4:34.10 (Jan. 28 in Seattle) during this indoor campaign … opened the year with a 9:13.70 over 3,000 meters at the UW Preview (Jan. 14).

Jorinde Van Klinken
Event: Shot Put
Qualifying Mark: 19.57m/64-2.5 [No. 1 overall qualifier]

Defending NCAA champion in the event … third appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships; first at Oregon … set the collegiate record of 19.57m/64-2.5 at the Don Kirby Invitational (Feb. 11); named the USTFCCCA co-National Athlete of the Week … eclipsed the previous mark of 19.56 meters set by Raven Saunders (Ole Miss) in 2017 … record throw extended the Oregon record, established a Dutch national record and currently stands as the No. 3 mark in the world this year … series also included measures of 18.87 and 18.99 meters … won the 2022 NCAA indoor title (19.08m/62-7.25) at Arizona State.

Women's DMR

Qualifying Mark: 10:49.07 [No. 3 overall qualifier]

Micah Williams, two-time NCAA indoor qualifier and 2021 NCAA champion, was a scratch in the 60 and will not compete in Albuquerque. The Portland native carried a season best of 6.49 from the Texas Tech Open (Jan. 27), a time adjusted to 6.51 for qualifying purposes.
