Ducks Sweep New Mexico, 7-0

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon men's tennis team completed its three-match weekend sweep with a 7-0 win Sunday over New Mexico. Junior Ty Gentry clinched the Ducks' fourth point with a win on court three which marked this seventh win in a row. With Sunday's result, Oregon is now 6-1 overall and 5-0 in home matches.

Up Next: The Ducks continue their home stand Friday, Feb. 8 against Boise State. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Student Tennis Center. Oregon will also host Louisville (Feb. 9) next weekend.
For a fourth time in five home matches, the Ducks won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. Emmanuel Coste and Thomas Laurent were the first duo on the board with a 6-2 win; the remaining two matches were tied at 4-all. The duo of Gentry and Joshua Charlton broke for a lead on court two and then served it out to secure the 1-0 match lead.
Laurent and Charlton made quick work of their opponents in singles play with identical 6-0, 6-1 wins on courts one and five, respectively. In his victory, Laurent defeated No. 23 Ricky Hernandez Tong for his second ranked win of the weekend. He had a 6-0, 6-2 win over No. 83 August Holmgren of San Diego in Friday's match.
Gentry secured the match win for the Ducks with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph on court three. Sunday's win was his 10th of the year and pushed his record to 4-0 in dual matches.
With the match in hand, play continued on the remaining three courts which all resulted in straight-set wins for the Ducks.
