Senior Day Shutout

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Alyssa Tobita could not have scripted her final home match with the Oregon women's tennis team any better, clinching a 4-0 sweep against Utah Sunday morning at the Student Tennis Center.
"I know it's senior day, but we are all coming out here and focusing on what we have to focus on," said Tobita. "We came out firing and Shweta [Sangwan] and I were racing to finish, that's a good thing we always want. There were a lot of emotions, and it was kind of cool that I got to clinch it for the team today. Just another happy ending."
How it Happened: Tobita, along with partner Rifanty Kahfiani, got the Ducks (14-8, 5-5) rolling with a 6-1 win over the Utah pair of Taylor Calton and Whitney Turley.
The duo of Shweta Sangwan and Julia Eshet followed suit shortly afterwards with a duplicate 6-1 win over No. 53 Alexia Petrovic and Jena Cheng to clinch the doubles point.
In singles play, sophomore Eshet raced out to a quick win at the No. 6 position nearly blanking the Utes' Victoria Robertson 6-0, 6-2.
Daniela Nasser put the Ducks ahead 3-0, picking up her second straight win, with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Calton.
With UO on the edge of the match victory, it became a race between Tobita and Sangwan to see who would clinch the win first.
Both Ducks needed to win only one game to secure the victory, but as fate would have it Utah's Brianna Chisholm tied her second set with Sangwan, 5-5, allowing Tobita to pick up the 7-5, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot.
Notable: Tobita recorded her fifth straight singles, third over a ranked opponent, improving to 14-6 on the year and 6-6 against ranked foes … Tobita and Kahfiani became the first doubles pair to hit 10 wins this spring improving to 10-2 … The win marked Oregon's fourth shutout victory of the season.

On recording the match sweep on senior day…
"It's a wonderful feeling for myself and the team. It's a celebration today of our seniors and all the hard work they put in to our program, to keep our program moving in the right direction. We are certainly going to celebrate the seniors today, but we'll be right back at it next week getting ready for the conference tournament."

On recording the opening and closing victories for UO…
"It's awesome. We kind of just had fun out there today. Being able to get both of those points for the team was awesome. We'll just keep practicing from here. We still have the postseason so we can't really just celebrate, this is not the end yet so I still have a lot to look forward to."
Up Next: The Ducks have the next week off as they wait to find out where they will be seeded in the Pac-12 tournament.
