Ionescu Leads Ducks to Win at Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif. – Sabrina Ionescu scored a game-high 27 points and the No. 3 Oregon women's basketball team defeated Saint Mary's, 79-55, on Saturday afternoon at McKeon Pavilion.
The Ducks (6-0) scored 26 points off of 21 Saint Mary's turnovers and shot 45 percent from the floor (31-of-69).
HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon and Saint Mary's both struggled to score early in the first quarter but the Ducks made seven straight baskets to end the opening period and owned a 24-12 lead.
Saint Mary's outscored the Ducks, 14-12, in the second quarter as the Ducks struggled to score. Ionescu had 17 points at the break to lead all scorers but no other Duck was in double figures.
Ionescu put the Ducks on her back in the third quarter. The junior scored Oregon's last eight points of the quarter and had 10 total in the third. Oregon owned a 55-42 lead going to the fourth.
The Ducks pulled away in the fourth for the 79-55 win. Oregon outscored the Gaels 24-13 in the final 10 minutes.
BOX SCORE: Ionescu tallied her 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting with six rebounds and six assists…Satou Sabally added 13 points and matched her career-high with nine rebounds…Ruthy Hebard was just 4-of-10 from the field but finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
