Ducks Complete Weekend Sweep in Regular-Season Finale

BOULDER, Colo. - The No. 42 University of Oregon women's tennis team defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the CU South Tennis Complex to complete a weekend sweep to close out the 2016-17 regular season.
The Ducks close the 2016-17 regular season with an overall record of 13-9 and went 6-4 in the Pac-12. On the road this season, Oregon went 7-4 and 5-4 at home. Colorado's record moves to 9-11 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
The Ducks reached 13 wins for the first time since the 2012-13 season, and with six conference wins, it's the team's best Pac-12 record since the 2004-05 season (5-6).
With the regular season now closed, the Ducks will head to the first ever team Pac-12 tournament in Ojai, Calif., from April 26-29 at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club.
How it Happened: In doubles, junior Alyssa Tobita and freshman Rifanty Kahfiani got things rolling with a 6-3 win over Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Brigitte Beck. To clinch the doubles point, senior Marlou Kluiving and freshman Julia Eshet bested Kyra Wojcik and Ilana Oleynik 6-3. Sophomore Shweta Sangwan and freshman Julia Eshet's match went unfinished.
In singles, No. 115 Tobita continued the Ducks' momentum with a straight set 6-1, 6-1 over Ronaldson in the second position. Colorado earned their first point of the day as Andrinopoulos took down Rose 6-3, 6-3. In three sets, Sangwan fell 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to Oremño Ruiz. Daniela Nasser earned the Ducks' third point with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Beck. To close the match with a 4-2 Oregon victory, Eshet took down Kyra Wojcik, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Kluiving's match against Hule went unfinished.
What it Means: The Ducks reached 13 wins for the first time since the 2012-13 season, and with six conference wins, it's the team's best Pac-12 record since the 2004-05 season (5-6).
Alyssa Tobita's ranking of 115 is the highest of her career.
