Ducks Snap Bulldogs Home Winning Streak

FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 38 University of Oregon women's tennis team snapped Fresno State's 18 match win streak at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon with a 4-1 victory.
The Ducks are now 10-6 overall and 3-1 in Pac-12 play. Oregon has a 4-3 record on the road. Prior to today's loss, the Bulldogs (10-7) were 39-2 at home under head coach Ryan Stotland, on a 18-match win streak and last fell Feb. 21, 2015 to No. 39 Wichita State.
How it Happened: In doubles, Olivia Noble and Katerina Stloukalova defeated freshman Janvhi Clark and junior Nia Rose 6-3. In a tight battle, Fresno State earned the Doubles point as Juliane Triebe and Galine Bykova took down the No. 66-ranked pair of senior Marlou Kluiving and freshman Julia Eshet. The match between No. 48 Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita, and Fresno State's Emma Wilson and Georgia Lawson went unfinished.
In singles, the tables flipped to Oregon's favor, as Tobita would even up the score with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Emma Wilson. Kluiving took down Ndini Ndunda in the 6th position, 6-3, 6-2. Moving the score to 3-1, Bykova was defeated by Rose, 7-5, 6-1. Three matches went into third sets. The Ducks only needed one victory to solidify the team win, and Eshet did just that. The Hollywood, Fla., native bested Juliane Triebe, 6-0, 5-7, 6-3.
What it Means: Oregon is now 10-6 overall and will play six more regular-season matches against Pac-12 opponents. The Pac-12 championships will be held in Ojai, Calif., from April 26-April 29.
Prior to today's defeat, the Bulldogs were on a 18-match win streak at home, and were 39-2 under coach Ryan Stotland. Now, the Bulldogs are 39-3 at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
