Ducks Fall to ASU, Face Wildcats Saturday

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 38 University of Oregon women's tennis team fell to No. 42 Arizona State Sun Devils 4-1 in at the Whiteman Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The Ducks are now 10-7 overall and 3-2 in Pac-12 play. Arizona State moves to 10-5, 3-2 Pac-12.
How it Happened: In doubles, Kelley Anderson and Savannah Slaysman defeated the No. 66-ranked duo of senior Marlou Kluiving and freshman Julia Eshet, 6-0. The Sun Devils would claim the doubles point with a 6-2 win by Kassidy Jump and Sammi Hampton over junior Nia Rose and freshman Rifanty Kahfiani. The match between the No. 48 pair of sophomore Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita against Alexandra Osborne and Nicole Fossa Huergo went unfinished.
In singles, the Sun Devils would extend their lead to 2-0 as No. 90 Anderson defeated Rose, 6-0, 6-1. No. 63 Hampton took down Tobita 6-0, 7-6. Kluiving earned the Ducks' lone point of the day with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Slaysman. To clinch the match, No. 65 Jump defeated Sangwan 7-5, 6-3. Eshet's match against Fossa Huergo, and Nasser against O'Sullivan went unfinished.
What it Means: The Ducks are now 10-7 overall and 3-2 in Pac-12 play. On the road, the Ducks have a record of 4-4.
Oregon will close out the a three-match trip road trip Saturday in Tucson with a match at noon against Arizona.
