
Women's Tennis Sweeps Singles Play In Day Two of Husky Invite

The Oregon Women's tennis team was perfect in singles play Saturday at the Husky Invitational picking up seven victories and finishing the day 9-1 overall.
SEATTLE, Wash. - The Oregon Women's tennis team was perfect in singles play Saturday at the Husky Invitational picking up seven victories and finishing the day 9-1 overall.
How it Happened: The Ducks opened the day taking on a trio of Arkansas doubles teams.
Senior Alyssa Tobita and partner Shweta Sangwan improved to 3-0 in the fall invitational with a 7-5 win over Giula Pairone and Ana Oparenovic. Not to be outdone, senior Nia Rose and sophomore Julia Eshet remained perfect in doubles play downing Agne Cepelyte and Natsuho Arakawa 7-5.
Oregon's only loss of the day came in the final doubles match with junior Daniela Nasser and sophomore Rifanty Kahfiani falling to Arkansas' Tatum Rice and Jackie Carr 6-3.
In singles play, it was a complete sweep for the Ducks as the team walked away with wins in all seven matches, three of which went into deciding third sets.
Tobita, who was the only Duck to challenge an Arkansas opponent in singles play, nearly swept Paiton Jennings 6-0, 6-1. Nasser enjoyed a duplicate 6-0, 6-1 victory over Laura Okasaki of Portland.
Rose was only one point away from joining her teammates recording a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Portland's Emily Soares.
In her first full match of the year freshman Paiton Wagner bounced back after dropping the opening set to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Eshet and Kahfiani pulled out three set victories as well over Radina Dimitrova and Lourdes Ramalle respectively.
