
Oregon Upends Oklahoma, 4-1

NORMAN, Okla. – The Oregon women's tennis team picked up its second-straight road win Friday, defeating Oklahoma, 4-1, at the Headington Tennis Center.
How It Happened: The Ducks (4-2) took two of three matches in doubles to start off the match with a 1-0 lead. Oklahoma's Christiana Brigante and Zita Engbroks tallied the first win of the day over Marlou Kluiving and Christi Woodson on No. 3, but Oregon's top two tandems helped the Ducks overcome and clinch the point. Alyssa Tobita and Nia Rose earned a 6-2 win on No. 2 before Kennan Johnson and Shweta Sangwan clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Oklahoma's Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi in the top doubles spot.
In singles, Tobita remained undefeated in dual action and expanded the Oregon lead to 2-0 with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 win over Sethi in the third singles position. Kluiving then tallied a 7-5, 6-1 triumph on No. 6 to put the Ducks up 3-0. The win was Kluiving's 12th of the season and fourth straight.
The Sooners wouldn't go down without a fight, as Emma Devine took down Rose, 6-4, 6-2, on No. 2 to make it 3-1.
Kennan Johnson clinched the Oregon win, coming back from dropping her first set to win in a three-set, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 match. With the win, the sophomore transfer moved to 2-0 in dual play and 11-3 overall.
Quotable - Head Coach Alison Silverio: "It was a solid performance from our team today. We were pleased with the plays we made under pressure. We have to come out with the same purpose and continue to make the right adjustments and choices tomorrow."
Notable: Now six matches into the 2016 dual season. tonight's win was the Ducks' third win over a ranked team this season. Oregon posted just four wins over ranked opponents all last season.
