
Ducks Stumble in Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. – Oregon led by as much as 13 points in the first half, but Colorado stormed back and the Ducks lost, 84-69, on Sunday at the Coors Events Center.
The Ducks dropped to 12-15 (5-11 Pac-12) with the loss while the Buffaloes improved to 12-15 (5-11). The teams are tied for ninth in the league standings but the win gives CU the tiebreaker.
Stat Sheet: Jillian Alleyne had her 13th straight double-double, 25th of the season and 65th of her career with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Katelyn Loper added 14 points while Lexi Petersen scored 12 points, going 6-of-8 at the free throw line.
How It Happened: After Colorado scored the first bucket of the game, the Ducks went on a 10-0 run to take a 12-2 lead with 15:25 left before halftime. Oregon took 13-point leads at the 13:35 mark (19-6) and 11:54 mark (24-11) after three-pointers by Loper. She hit three of her first four attempts from downtown. Oregon led by 11 points, 35-24, with 4:19 to go in the first but Colorado closed the half on a 14-1 run. The Buffaloes had a 38-36 lead at the break.
After the teams traded a couple buckets, Colorado's Lexy Kresl hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Buffs a 45-40 lead with 17:10 to play. Oregon battled back and took the lead, 48-47, with 12:46 to play on a free throw by Petersen.
A three-pointer by Colorado gave the Buffs back the lead, 57-50, with 10:50 to play. At that point Colorado was 6-of-7 from three-point range. After Oregon took a one-point lead at the 12:46 mark, Colorado went on a 20-7 run to take a 12 point lead, 68-54, with 6:45 remaining.
A steal and score by Petersen and a three-pointer from Jordan Loera cut it to eight points, 69-61, with 4:33 on the clock. The Oregon rally was short-lived, however, as Colorado closed the game on a 15-8. Colorado outscored the Ducks 29-9, combined, in the final four minutes of each half.
Size Advantage: Colorado, who has just three players on the roster under 6-foot, had a 43-31 edge on the glass. The Buffaloes' 17 offensive rebounds led to 19 second chance points.
Records Watch: After grabbing 13 rebounds against the Buffaloes, Alleyne is now 64 rebounds away from matching Bev Smith's all-time UO record of 1,362. Alleyne has 1,298 in her career.
