Ducks Win Fourth Straight in Sweep of SCU

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis team notched its fourth-straight win on Saturday when the Ducks swept Santa Clara in a neutral site match at the UCSB Women's Tennis Courts.
The win marked the first time UO (5-2) swept an opponent since Jan. 26, 2014, when the Ducks hosted Eastern Washington.
How It Happened: The Ducks took some pressure off their No. 1 doubles team with the No. 2 and No. 3 pairs winning back-to-back to secure the doubles point.
Nicole Long and Marlou Kluiving made quick work of Nabila Farah and Zeina El Tawil in the No. 2 slot with an 8-0 dismantling of the Santa Clara (2-4) pair. Kadie Hueffner and Lina Åkesson clinched the doubles point for UO with an 8-5 win against Danielle Zinn and Riley Morgan.
Åkesson then put Oregon on top 2-0 after she took down Zinn 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 position. Soon after, Long bested Silva 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 slot and pushed the Ducks' lead to 3-0.
Hueffner recorded her first dual win of the year when she clinched the match for Oregon. The sophomore from Portland, Ore., defeated Morgan 6-1, 6-2 at singles No. 6.
Kluiving continued to play excellent tennis on Saturday and improved to 15-2 in singles play and 6-0 in dual action with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over El Tawil. The sophomore has now won eight matches in a row.
Tobita was the next to wrap up her match after she defeated Cooke 6-2, 6-4 before Rose finished off the sweep with the 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Farah.
