Ducks Lose Halftime Lead at No. 13 ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. – Despite tough defense and a halftime lead, the Oregon women's basketball team lost to No. 13 ranked Arizona State, 70-58, on Friday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Ducks fell to 8-10 (1-6 Pac-12) with the loss while the surging Sun Devils improved to 18-1 (7-0) with their 14th straight win.
Stat Sheet: Jillian Alleyne had her 57th career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Drea Toler had 10 points while Lexi Bando chipped in nine. Lexi Petersen and Amanda Delgado each had eight points.
How It Happened: Oregon led midway through the first, 13-9, after a jumper by Toler. The Ducks went 6-of-11 to start the game while ASU was shooting 26.7 percent at that point. ASU rallied back and took the lead, 21-19, with 5:23 left before halftime due to 11 Oregon turnovers.
Toler gave the Ducks the lead back at halftime as her runner put Oregon up, 27-25, at the break. Toler's eight points led UO while Alleyne had six points and six boards in the first half. Oregon shot 50 percent (13-of-26) in the opening 20 minutes while ASU shot 27.3 percent (9-of-33).
The Sun Devils scored 10 straight points to start the second half, taking a 35-27 lead with 16:20 remaining before a Petersen layup stopped the run. Three straight three-pointers by ASU made it a 50-35 edge for the Sun Devils with 10:44 remaining.
Oregon got a close as 10 but never cut the ASU lead back to single digits before the 70-58 final score.
Milestone: With 12 rebounds on Friday at ASU, Alleyne now ranks second all-time in UO history. She jumped Alison Lang (1,151 boards from 1980-84) with 1,157 career rebounds. Alleyne had her 57th career double-double in the game and is now two double-doubles behind Lang for second in the UO record books.
Notable: Toler made her first start of the season for the Ducks … She scored a career-high 16 points last weekend against Washington State.
