
Cougars Win In Extra Time

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Josh Hawkinson recorded 26 points and 13 rebounds to carry Washington State to a 108-99 overtime win over Oregon on Thursday night.
DaVonte Lacy scored 20 for the Cougars (9-7, 3-1 Pac-12). Ike Iroegbu added 20, and Brett Boese had 16 in WSU coach Ernie Kent's first game against the school that fired him in 2010.
Joseph Young led Oregon (12-5, 2-2) with 32 points, tying his season high. Elgin Cook scored a career-high 26 points for Oregon, and his 10 rebounds led the Ducks.
The game was tied at 94 at the end of regulation. The Cougars hit their first nine free throws in overtime. There were 23 lead changes and 18 ties.
Washington State led 57-52 at the half. The Cougars shot 72.4 percent from the field in the half, and Oregon hit 55.3 percent. For the game, WSU shot 58.9 percent to Oregon's 49.4 percent.
When Oregon visited Washington State last season, the Cougars scored 17 points in the first half and shot 25 percent for the game in a 71-44 loss.
The Ducks had won seven in a row against WSU, and 10 of the previous 11 meetings. Oregon has scored more than 100 points three times this season (in the first three games) but had been held to its two lowest totals in the two games preceding the Washington State game. The points allowed was a season high for Oregon.
The 108 points is the most Washington State has scored against Oregon since the series began in 1908. It was the most points scored by the Cougars since a 114-68 win over Grambling in 1998. It was the second-most points WSU has scored in the conference. WSU lost 114-111 to Arizona in double overtime in 1995.
GAME NOTES Ahmaad Rorie had career highs in assists (8) and rebounds (6)...Cook recorded his third double-double of the season and fourth career with 26 points and 10 rebounds...the loss snapped an eight-game overtime winning streak for the Ducks that dated back to Dec. 19, 2012...The Ducks used their seventh different starting line-up of the season...Oregon had two players score at least 20 points for the first time this season...the 108 points scored by the Cougars was the most in the history of the Oregon-WSU series, and the third most ever allowed by the Ducks.
