CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon women's basketball lost the first of back-to-back Civil War matchups with the Beavers, 70-37, on Friday night in front of 7,652 at Gill Coliseum.
Oregon falls to 8-6 (1-2 Pac-12) with the loss while No. 11 ranked Oregon State improves to 13-1 (3-0).
Stat Sheet: Jillian Alleyne scored six points and led the Ducks with 16 rebounds while Lexi Bando had a team-high 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting … Lexi Petersen had three assists.
How It Happened: The Ducks kept it close early, down 7-6 with 15:29 to play in the first half, but OSU responded with a 10-0 run to make it 17-6. Alleyne had six first half rebounds but was limited to just four points as OSU center Ruth Hamblin had five first half blocked shots.
Bando was the engine for the Ducks in the first half, knocking down midrange jumpers away from OSU's length in the post. Bando had eight points on 4-of-9 shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
Oregon State led, 33-16, at the break and continued to grow its lead in the second half.
The Beavers led by 23 with 15:16 remaining before pushing its advantage to 55-28 with 8:17 left to play. At that point the Ducks were shooting just 24.5 percent from the floor while the Beavers had hit 39.2 percent of their shots.
Notable: Oregon State has won eight straight games in the Civil War series … Megan Carpenter fouled out with a season-high eight points, five rebounds and three blocked shots … Oregon attempted a season-low three three-pointers and did not make a shot from deep… On the other end, the Beavers went 7-of-22 from long range.
Up Next: The Ducks close out the Civil War series at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Matthew Knight Arena.
