11/30/14 | Women's Basketball
LAS VEGAS - The Oregon women's basketball team was able to make it a two-point game early in the second half but American pulled away and the Ducks (2-3) lost to the Eagles, 72-64, on Saturday in the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout.
How It Happened: Oregon struggled to score early and trailed 29-18 at halftime. But Amanda Delgado hit a pair of threes to start the second half and eventually Oregon trailed by just two, 35-33, with 14:35 left in the game. The Eagles answered, however, with a 22-7 run to lead 57-40 with 6:54 remaining. American point guard Jen Dumiak tallied 22 points to go with 10 assists and eight rebounds and went 8-of-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to ice the game. American had four players in double figures scoring while the Ducks had two.
Box Score Breakdown: Junior point guard Lexi Petersen scored a team-high 21 points with six rebounds and four assists while committing just one tunover. She added three steals and two blocked shots. Jillian Alleyne recorded her 46th career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She had eight points in the final three minutes.
Record Watch: Alleyne is approaching her UO and the Pac-12 double-double streak record. Alleyne tied Cheryl Miller's Pac-12 record and set the UO mark last year with 18 straight double-doubles. The junior now has 14 straight dating back to last season.
Up Next: After playing four games in six days, the Ducks will have a few days off before playing another back-to-back set of games. Oregon will head to Portland on Friday before hosting Navy next Saturday.
