Ducks Double Their Fun in 11-3 Win over Aggies

EUGENE - The No. 15 University of Oregon softball team (21-4) beat Utah State, 11-3, in its first game of Sunday's doubleheader at Howe Field.
In the six-inning complete game, junior Samantha Skillingstad (7-0) tied her career-high in strikeouts (12), walked one, allowed three hits, and two of her three runs allowed were earned.
Led by freshman Kailee Cuico 's school-record-tying three doubles, the Ducks also set a new team game record (7) with other two-baggers from senior Monique Fuiava (2), junior Kelsey Chambers and freshman Alexa Peterson .
Cuico's 3-for-3 day was her first multi-hit effort as a collegian, and four others had multiple hits - freshman Courtney Ceo (2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Fuiava (2-for-2, 2 walks, 3 RBI) and Peterson (2-for-3).
The team's seven doubles also broke while the former UO mark (6) that came against Long Beach State in 2010 and Seton Hall in 2007.
Utah State starter Shelby Tyteca (1-4) struck out four, walked two, gave up nine hits, and five of her runs allowed were earned.
Three Aggie players each had one hit - Kassandra Uchida (1-for-3), Shasta Tyteca (1-for-3) and Lindsey Marquez (1-for-2).
