EUGENE - The No. 15 University of Oregon softball team (19-4) opened its home slate Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 win in the first game of its doubleheader vs. Weber State (3-12).

The Sutter, Calif,. native Moore (11-2) struck out 10 - her fourth double-digit effort of the year among her 13 starts - to go along with no walks.

Last year, Moore also combined on a five-inning no-hitter last year vs. Idaho State with Samantha Skillingstad , while UO's last seven-inning no-hitter was by Amy Harris in 2006 vs. UC Santa Barbara.

Junior Christie Nieto jump-started the Duck offense with a three-run homer in the second inning - her fourth of the season - and scored sophomore Kaylan Howard and senior Kaitlin Vitek who had reached base via a single and walk.

In the third inning, freshman Courtney Ceo and sophomore Samantha Pappas added solo round-trippers, and Howard added another solo shot in the sixth for the Ducks' final run.

The Wildcats' lone run scored in the fourth inning after Erika James reached with no outs on a hit by pitch, and ruined the potential perfect game. The junior centerfielder stole second base, advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunts, then slid around the tag home after a passed ball.

Weber State starter Angela DeVries (2-1) pitched the first 2.1 innings, struck out two, walked one, yielded four hits, and all five of her runs allowed were earned. Reliever Sarah Clark followed with 3.2 innings, struck out none, walked three, gave up two hits, and her run allowed was earned.
