Ducks Soar Past Gamecocks, 74-56

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon men's basketball team shot a season-high 56.9 percent and led by double digits for the entire second half in a 74-56 win over Jacksonville State at McArthur Court on Monday night.
The Ducks improve to 7-3 with the victory, their third straight, and finish their four-game home stand 3-1.
Oregon stormed out of the gate with eight consecutive points and grabbed a 27-13 lead nine minutes into the contest. JSU cut UO's lead to 30-23 with a 10-3 run, but the Ducks responded with nine straight points of their own to go up 16. The Ducks shot 60 percent (15-of-25) from the field and 50 percent (5-of-10) from three-point range in the first half to take a 39-27 lead into halftime.
The Ducks continued their onslaught in the second half, beginning the final frame with a 15-3 run to extend the lead to 24 points at 54-30. UO expanded its lead to as large as 26 points and the lead never got less than 16 points the rest of the way.
Joevan Catron led the UO offense with 20 points, his fourth 20-point performance of the year. E.J. Singler and Garrett Sim also scored in double figures with 14 points and 10 points, respectively. Catron and Singler both finished with seven rebounds to lead all players.

Jacksonville State edged Oregon, 29-28, in rebounding while the Ducks forced 14 turnovers and only turned it over 12 times themselves. The Ducks head to Charlottesville, Va., to face Virginia in their first road game of the year on Friday. Opening tip is at 5 p.m.
