Balanced Efforts Lead to Exhibition Wins

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon opened its exhibition schedule with a dominant 121-40 victory over the University of the Fraser Valley on Aug. 8 in Abbotsford, British Columbia, followed by a 112-71 win over Trinity Western on June 30 in Langley, B.C.

Against UFV, the Ducks shot 54.4 percent from the field, outrebounded the Cascades 67-28 and held UFV to 18.8 percent shooting. Oregon also forced 17 turnovers and finished with 13 steals.

Andrew Meadow led UO with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while Fred Payne added 15 and Dwayne Aristode had 13. Oregon also received double-digit scoring from Tyrone Riley IV (11 points), Jerry Easter II (11), Jasper Johnson (11 points, five assists) and Pharaoh Compton (10 points, nine rebounds).

Oregon also dominated Trinity Western, shooting 51.1 percent from the field and forcing 21 turnovers. Meadow again led the Ducks with 23 points (9-14 FG), while Pharaoh Compton scored 16 and Fred Payne scored 15. Jasper Johnson and Dwayne Aristode added 14 points apiece. Tyrone Riley IV totaled 12 points, six steals, six rebounds and five assists. Freshman Tajh Ariza scored eight points with nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Oregon led 39-16 after one quarter and eventually built a 41-point advantage. The Ducks also held a 70-28 edge in points in the paint and scored 35 points off of Trinity Western's 21 turnovers. UO's bench outscored TWU's 46-13.

The Ducks wrap up the Canadian tour on Tuesday with a matchup against Thompson Rivers.
