Oregon Head Coach Paul Westhead
On the loss:
We don't have much to fall back on after this game. We definitely had played better before. I need to give a credit to the Cal players. We really struggled tonight. As a running team, we really need to shoot as much as we can. If we don't run, then we also give up the opportunity to shoot back. Then our score was down and our defensive performance wasn't very good. We had a great crowd of fans tonight and hopefully we'll improve soon.”
On the game:
“Our play in the past few weeks has become more physical. Inside play was quite aggressive, but our players were defended well. We seemed to be in rush and missing shots that normally we wouldn't miss. Defensive shooting was out of our rhythm. Our problem was that we didn't keep the Cal players away from shooting.”
On the next game:
“This is going to be a challenge. In one day of preparations you can't change much. I want to encourage them to take more shots and have other people help us out, like Ellyce Ironmonger did tonight. We have to get a little more confident.”
On positives:
“The only good news is that all of these problems are potentially correctable.”
#54 Nicole Canepa
On the game:
“I feel like this was more of a defensive upset. They beat us on the rebounding part. If we didn't allow that, it would have been a completely different game. We could have ran a little harder and get more fast balls.”
On the impact of last week's losses on today's performance:
“We are trying to not look in the past. We also try not to lose games back to back, and now we lost three in a row. This must change.”
On changes before the next game:
“Our attitude before Saturday cannot be negative. We need to keep up the tempo throughout full 40 minutes and believe that we are a good team.”
