EUGENE, Ore. – The highest scoring Division I women's basketball team in the nation has a new promotion headed to Mac Court: The Pizza Hut Personal Pan Play.
Oregon has teamed with Pizza Hut, and each time the Ducks reach 100 points in a game, every fan in attendance at McArthur Court will receive a free personal pan pizza.
Oregon is currently averaging 87.4 points per game to lead all Division I women's basketball teams in the country, and under first-year head coach Paul Westhead, the Ducks are off to their best start, 12-5, in five years.
The new promotion will start and Thursday and continue for the remiander of the season.
“Every game we are trying to put a winning and exciting product on the floor,” Westhead said of his Oregon women's basketball team. “I am so thankful Pizza Hut has partnered with us for this promotion that will allow us to pay back the fans at Mac Court for their unconditional and relentless support.”
Last Saturday while on the road in Tucson, Oregon and Arizona broke a 21-year-old record, playing the highest scoring game in women's Pac-10 history and scoring a combined 231 points.
The Ducks have reached the 100-point plateau three times this season, and will work to do so again this weekend when the Bay Area schools make their final visit to Mac Court.
Oregon (12-5, 3-2) returns to the floor on Thursday to host California (8-8, 2-3) at 7 p.m. Duck fans can pick up a “$5 Off” coupon at any Eugene/Springfield area Carl's Jr., BI-Mart or Oregon Community Credit Union location to receive $5 off a reserved ticket for Oregon's game against California on Thursday.
The Ducks will then go for the upset taking on No. 2 Stanford at 11 a.m., Saturday at Mac Court. Oregon hasn't been able to knock off the Cardinal in Eugene since a 62-58 upset on Dec. 29, 2004. Saturday's game will also be televised on Fox Sports Net.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased by clicking HERE, calling 1-800-WEB-FOOT, or in person at the Casanova Center ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased at the McArthur Court ticket window 90 minutes prior to game time. The doors to Mac Court open 60 minutes prior to tip.
And as a reminder, the Oregon women's basketball program continues to pay to tribute Mac Court as the final Pac-10 season in the historic facility comes to a close. On Thursday, prior to the start of the game against California, the Ducks will have a pre-game ceremony featuring honorary captain Missy Croshaw. She held the all-time career three-point record for 16 years before current senior Taylor Lilley broke it back on Jan. 1 vs. Washington.
Prior to the start of Saturday's game with No. 2 Stanford, Debbie Sporcich will be Oregon's honorary captain. Sporcich was a Pac-10 First Team selection in 1994, after leading the Ducks to second round of the NCAA Tournament averaging a team-leading 15.6 points per game.
In addition, the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a 3x7 commemorative ticket highlighting the accomplishments of the honorary captain(s) for that contest.
