
#46 Ducks Suffer First Home Loss to #39 Ohio State

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 46 ranked Oregon women's tennis team lost its first home dual match of the season, falling 5-2 to No. 38 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon inside the Student Tennis Center. The Buckeyes claimed the doubles point and won four of six singles matches to earn the win.
Oregon falls to 6-3 on the season after their three match winning streak was snapped while the Buckeyes improve to 5-5 in 2009.
The Ducks got wins from Pavlina Smatova and Ana Cecilia Olivos and No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Olivos came out strong and took the first set easily and battled back from an early deficiet to win the second set and take the match 6-1, 6-3. Smatova took the first set easily but need an extra game to win the second, taking the match 6-1, 7-5.
Oregon will begin Pac-10 play next weekend when Arizona and Arizona State come to Eugene for a pair of matches inside the Student Tennis Center. As with all Oregon home matches, you can follow the action live on the GoDucks.com live blog.
