Men's Tennis Wins, 6-1, Over Idaho
01/30/09 | Men's Tennis
EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's tennis team won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to take a 6-1 decision on Friday morning against Idaho at the Student Tennis Center. The Ducks remain a perfect 4-0 at home this duals season.
Ayrton Wibowo had a great day for the Ducks, winning his doubles match in dominating fashion with partner Ric Mortera and rallying in both sets of his singles match to win 7-5, 6-4. Mortera continued his doubles success into his singles match, his first since April, and shook off some early rust to win 6-4, 6-0.
Marcos Verdasco and Alexander Cornelissen both needed 10-point tiebreakers to decide their singles matches but both Ducks fed off the home crowd to win 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 and 6-2, 7-6, 10-6, respectively.
Oregon will play Samford at 4 p.m. today inside the Student Tennis Center behind McArthur Court.
