Ducks get Swept by Cardinal

EUGENE, Ore.- The Oregon women's tennis team fell to the no. 5 ranked Stanford Cardinal 7-0 Sunday afternoon outside on the student tennis courts.
The Cardinal easily defeated the Ducks, with first sweeping the doubles point. Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette showed why they are one of the best doubles team in the country, with an 8-1 victory over Celine Rolly and Anna Powaska.
Carmen Seremeta and Claudia Hirt were defeated 8-3 in the no. 2 spot by Whitney Deason and Jessica Nguyen. Carolyn McVeigh and Celia Durkin for Stanford defeated Mimi Songsermsawas and Stephanie Macfarlane of Oregon 8-2.
The singles play had the same ending results as the doubles, with Stanford winning match in straight sets. Stanford's star freshman Barte, the No. 7 ranked player, defeated fellow freshman Celine Rolly 6-1, 6-0.
Hirt played the best for the Ducks, with each set finishing 6-4, 6-4. Seremeta, coming off her win against Cal's No. 16 Susie Babos on Friday, was defeated at the no. 2 spot to Nguyen 6-2, 6-2.
This was the Ducks final match of the regular season, making their final record for the season 10-12 overall, and 3-6 in the conference.
