
Ducks Take Bite Out Of Wolfpack

EUGENE, Ore.- Oregon (8-7) pushed its record back over .500 with a convincing 6-1 victory over Nevada (2-6) Saturday morning at the Student Tennis Center.
In doubles, Marcos Verdasco and Geoff Embry (ORE) knocked off Guerin Smith and Benjamin David (NEV), 8-5, at the No. 1 spot, and No. 3 Stephen Wiechert and Francisco Gallardo (ORE) quickly took care of Gabe Kanzelmeyer and Kristian Kuharsky (NEV) to win the point.
The Wolfpack's Laurent Garcin and Augustin Myard defeated Alex Corenlissen and Romeo Mortera, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot with the doubles point already at hand for the Ducks.
The Ducks picked up right where they left off in singles play, as No. 2 Francisco Gallardo (ORE) made quick work of Benjamin David (NEV), 6-0 ,6-2, and No. 5 Romeo Mortera (ORE) easily handled Kristian Kuharsky (NEV), 6-2, 6-0 to give Oregon a 3-0 lead.
Stephen Wiechert (ORE) defeated Cameron Spearman (NEV), 6-2, 6-1, to secure the Oregon victory.
With Oregon leading 5-0, No. 1 Marcos Verdasco (ORE) fell to Laurent Garcin in a tiebreak, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) and Geoff Embry (ORE) defeated Alex Daruty (NEV), 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 for the final score of 6-1.
The Ducks will go for three straight victories tonight against the Portland State Vikings at 6 p.m. in the Student Tennis Center.
