Women's Tennis Falls to Michigan on the Road

Eugene, Ore.,-- The No.25 ranked Michigan Wolverines defeated the Ducks 7-0 Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Ducks (5-3) were able to come away with one doubles win but the Wolverines claimed all six singles matches.
“Michigan is a great team, but I also think that we didn't play our best tennis today,” Coach Reber said after the match. “They're the best team we've played so far and the first ranked in the top 25 and I just told the girls to swing away, I didn't want there to be any pressure.”
Michigan earned a pair of victories at the No. 1 and 3 spot taking the doubles point. Siobhan Cavan and Anna Powaska came through for the Ducks after defeating Rika Tatsuno and Whitney Taney earning the Ducks' only victory of the afternoon.
Straight-set singles wins at all six positions provided the Wolverines with a team victory. Freshman Celine Rolly put forth a solid effort this afternoon and battled it out in the No. 1 spot against No. 55 ranked Chisako Sugiyama, but lost 6-2, 6-5 in the final match of the day.
The Ducks stay on the road and head to No.47 ranked Ohio State Sunday where they take on the Buckeyes at 11 a.m.
