
Ducks Fall in the First Round of theNCAA Tournament

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The No. 41 Oregon Ducks women's tennis season came to an end on Friday afternoon as they were swept by the No. 28 BYU Cougars, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Cougars, one of the hottest teams in the nation coming into the match, made quick work of the Ducks, sweeping the doubles point and then winning the needed three singles matches in straight sets.
Oregon's senior Dominika Dieskova was the first Duck to fall, as she was bested by No. 82 ranked Anastasia Surkova, 6-3, 6-1. The Bratislava, Slovakia native still finishes her career as the program's second winningest player with a career record of 85-64.
At the other end of the lineup, the Ducks' Tina Snodgrass was defeated by Dolly Chang 6-2, 6-1 and Sofia Holdren clinched the matched for the Cougars by defeating Anna Powaska, 6-1, 6-3.
Once the match was clinched, the other individual matches were suspended.
The Ducks' doubles pair of Dieskova and Olivos were battling in a close match with No. 34 ranked Surkova and Jenny Miccoli when the other two matches fell for the Cougars as Chang and Lauren Jones defeated Powaska and Monica Hoz de Vila, 8-1, and Holdren and Kristina Doerr bested Snodgrass and Seremeta, 8-2.
