LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The #44 Oregon women's tennis team was shut out, 7-0, by the fourth-ranked USC Trojans Saturday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium in Los Angeles.
The win brings the Trojans to 6-1 in conference action and 15-3 overall while dropping the Ducks to 8-7 and 1-5 in conference play.
"They were just solid across the board," Oregon Head Coach Nils Schyllander said following the match. "You have to tip your cap to them."
The Trojans got off to a hot start, winning all three doubles matches to earn the point. The Ducks were overmatched in the number two and three positions but held their own in the first position, as Dominika Dieskova and Ceci Olivos fell 8-6 to USC's Carine Vermuelen and Diane Mattias.
USC took each of the six singles matches in just two sets, highlighted by Anca Anastasui's 16th consecutive victory in the number four spot against Oregon's Ceci Olivos.
"I thought we competed real well in singles," Schyllander said. "A couple of our girls were in it early. When it came down to it, they were just too tough."
The Ducks return to action as they host the Washington State Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25th in their final match before the Pac-10 Championships.
