Ducks Beat Tigers, 5-2, Tuesday Night

EUGENE, Ore. ? The Duck men's tennis team got the recent taste of some rough losses out of their mouths as they won, 5-2, over Memphis at the Student Tennis Center, Tuesday night.
“It was a tough night for us in doubles, we looked flat and didn't seem to have a lot of energy,” head coach Kevin Kowalik said. “We came out though and competed well in singles winning a couple of tough three set matches to seal the victory for us.”
Memphis got off to a solid start as they took the doubles point from the Ducks winning of the matches.
At number one the team of James Spence and Michael Jetter bested the Oregon duo of Arron Spencer and Markus Schiller winning, 8-4. In the number two position the Tigers took the match and sealed the point as the team of Bryan Bankester and Matt Brewer narrowly defeated Thomas Bieri and Fernando Freitas, 9-7.
Oregon rebounded to take the third match as Mike Myrhed and Gustavo Loza defeated Sam Withell and Garrison Pilant, 8-6, but it was too late.
Spencer trailed 1-4 in the first set of his match against Matt Brewer before winning the set, 7-5. Spencer would take the positive momentum and finish his second set strong winning, 6-4
Also collecting wins for the Ducks were Markus Schiller, Thomas Bieri, Mike Myrhed and Gustavo Loza.
Myrhed and Bieri needed third sets to earn their wins, as both suffered first set losses.
Bieri fell, 4-6, in his match against Michael Jetter, before rallying to win the next two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Myrhed was a, 3-6, victim in his first set against Sam Withell before rallying and winning 7-5, 6-2.
