Women's Tennis Topples Boise State, 5-2

EUGENE ? The Oregon women's tennis team improved to 10-2 with a solid 5-2 victory over Boise State at the Student Tennis Center Saturday. In the victory, Oregon improved to 29-8 overall in doubles dual play with a clean sweep of the Broncos. Dating back to last season, the Ducks have won their last 12 regular season non-conference matches.
"I was please with the way we played today," Oregon head coach Nils Schyllander said. "We came out aggressive and got the four points quickly. This is a good stretch of non-conference matches for us that we can utilize to get better and prepare for the remainder of the Pac-10 season."
In doubles, seniors Davina Mendiburu and Ester Bak won their team-leading 11th dual of the season at No. 3, while 15th-ranked Daria Panova and Dominika Dieskova upped their overall record to 15-5 with a win at No. 1. Oregon has lost the doubles point only once this season.
In singles, Panova improved to 9-2 in dual play with a straight set victory over BSU's Megan Biorkman. Dieskova also won her ninth dual match, winning at the No. 2 position.
Bak then clinched the match for the Ducks with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Broncos' Anna Curtolo, to improve to 7-3 in dual play.
Mendiburu rounded out the Ducks' victories with a win at No. 3, improving to 15-4 overall.
Oregon continues its non-conference slate next weekend when it hosts former assistant coach Kathy Sell's Princeton Tigers, Sunday at noon.
