
Ducks Break Through, Win Pac-10 Match

“I hate to say this, but it's a sense of relief,” first-year head coach Jim Moore said of his first Pac-10 win. “I'm very happy for the players. They've had some tough breaks this season, but they were still able to pull it out.”
The statistics sheet wasn't pretty, with the two teams combining for 50 attack errors, but the Ducks were the steadier team throughout and were able to capitalize better on WSU's mistakes.
“We were tense the whole night, and I thought we played very mediocre,”
Freshman Mira Djuric continued her jaw-dropping play for the Ducks, spiking balls off opposing players' body parts and nearly taking down a linesperson on her way to a match-high 17 kills. She also led all players with 18.5 points.
Senior Kelly Russell started slow, but registered six of her ten kills in the deciding Game 3. Russell had five of
Junior Stephanie Alleman, filling in for injured freshman libero Katie Swoboda, posted a match-best 18 digs.
WSU junior Jen Barcus led the Cougars with 14 kills and a .344 hitting percentage. Senior blocker Te'ara Epps had ten total blocks to lead all players.
UO heads back on the road next week with stops at Stanford on Thursday, and
