Meashintubby's Gem Guides Ducks To Victory Over Kansas

EUGENE ? Oregon senior pitcher Anissa Meashintubby pitched a gem as the 19th-ranked University of Oregon softball team defeated Kansas, 1-0, in front of 263 fans at Howe Field Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Oregon improves to 22-7 while Kansas fell to 21-12 overall.
"Anissa threw a terrific game for us today," Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen said. "We found ways to get on base and eventually got the run we needed so I'm pleased with the outcome."
Meashintubby threw her ninth career shutout and now stands tied for sixth all-time at Oregon. The senior from Monroe had six strikeouts and scattered three hits while walking three. Kansas' Kara Pierce took the loss to fall to 11-6 on the year.
Oregon capitalized on two Kansas errors and a wild pitch in the second inning as sophomore Beth Boskovich scored on a Pierce wild pitch to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. It proved to be all the Ducks would need as Meashintubby and Oregon's defense kept the Kansas offense in check.
