Ducks Host Oregon Twilight Friday

The 2026 senior class will be recognized just after 7 p.m.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team will put a bow on its regular season with the Oregon Twilight this Friday at Hayward Field. The Ducks' seniors will be recognized on the track at 7:02 p.m.

The 2026 Oregon Twilight begins at 1 p.m. with the women's javelin with the men's and women's long jump starting within the following 10 minutes. Running events begin just after 4 p.m. with one section each of the 5,000 meters.

The Ducks' mid-distance crews will headline the action on the track with several entries across the 800 and 1500 meters. Simeon Birnbaum broke the collegiate record at 1500 meters in his last appearance at Hayward Field and is entered in Friday's Wade Bell 800. The race is scheduled for an 8:22 p.m. start.

Three-time NCAA indoor champion Wilma Nielsen is set to make her outdoor season debut in the 1500 meters. The invitational section of the women's 1500 will go off at 8:49 p.m., and is also set to feature fellow UO senior Silan Ayyildiz.

As is tradition with the Oregon Twilight, the Bill McChesney Jr. 1500 meters will close out the meet.

In the field, school-record holder Emily Fitzsimmons is entered in the pole vault (1:30 p.m.). She broke the Oregon school record with a clearance of 4.48m/14-8.25 at the Oregon Team Invitational and now ranks third in the Big Ten and 11th nationally.

Freshmen Alicia Khunou and Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka enter the Twilight meet ranked among the top eight in the discus among Big Ten competitors. The women's discus will start at 5:15 p.m. followed by the men's discus—featuring Ben Smith and Kobe Lawrence—at 7:15 p.m.

The postseason begins next weekend with the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (May 15-17) in Lincoln, Neb., followed by NCAA West First Round (May 27-30) in Fayetteville, Ark., The top 12 in each event at the regional meets then advance to the NCAA Championships (June 10-13) hosted at Hayward Field.
