Graves-Blanks Earns B1G Weekly Honors

Kai Graves-Blanks leads the Big Ten in the 110-meter hurdles.
EUGENE, Ore. – Kai Graves-Blanks has been named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week after a standout performance at the Desert Heat Classic (May 2) in Tucson, Ariz. He finished the meet with two victories and three top-10 program marks including a school record with the Ducks' 4x100-meter relay.

In his first appearance, Graves-Blanks teamed with PJ Ize-Iyamu, Grant Valley and Jaelon Barbarin for a time of 38.59 to break the Oregon school record. That time also leads the Big Ten and is currently No. 2 in the NCAA this season. Graves-Blanks ran the lead-off leg.

The Upland, Calif., native then dropped his lifetime best in the 110-meter hurdles to 13.28, another Big Ten leader. Graves-Blanks also moved to second on the UO all-time list in the event. He capped his day with another personal best, this time a 20.59 in the 200 meters which also helped him crack the Ducks' top-10 list at No. 9.

The Ducks close out their regular season with the Oregon Twilight (May 8) at Hayward Field. In addition to Senior Day, the meet will also feature the Kids Half-Lapper and Middle School Mile presented by the TrackTown Kids Club, the OTC Master' Mile and the Warsaw Costume Relay for UO students.

Ticket packages for the Oregon home schedule are on sale, including all-session and single-day options for the NCAA Championships in June. Â

The postseason will begin May 15-17 with the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln, Neb., followed by the NCAA West First Round meet (May 27-30) in Fayetteville, Ark. The top 12 from each regional site earns their spot at the NCAA Championships in Eugene.
