Seven Ducks Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

EUGENE, Ore. – Seven Ducks were named to the MPSF All-Mountain Region teams on Thursday.

Pitcher Lyndsey Grein and outfielders Elon Butler and Amari Harper were named to the first team, while catcher Emma Cox, second baseman Kaylynn Jones, shortstop Taryn Ho and designated player Stefini Ma'ake were on the second team.

Those seven helped Oregon earn the No. 14 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament that begins Friday when the Ducks host Idaho State at 7 p.m. Oregon went 40-12 overall in the regular season and tied for second in the Big Ten Conference at 20-4.

It is the fourth career all-region nod and second first team selection for Butler, who currently owns or shares five school single-season records: runs (65), doubles (18), extra base hits (39), total bases (144) and slugging percentage (.900). She also leads the team with 18 home runs, one off the school record, and a .413 batting average.

It is the second straight first team recognition for Grein, who leads the Ducks with a 23-6 record. She has 195 strikeouts in 161.2 innings pitched and a 2.73 ERA. Grein ranks in the top five in the Big Ten in nine pitching categories.

Harper and Ma'ake were also honored for the second time in their careers. First-time NFCA All-Region selections included sophomores Cox and Jones, and Ho, a freshman.
