Ducks Suffer 4-2 Loss to No. 52 Illinois

UO gets wins from Crocker, Furutani.
EUGENE, Ore. – Continuing its gauntlet through Big Ten play, No. 53 Oregon suffered a hard-fought 4-2 loss at the hands of No. 52 Illinois Friday at the UO Student Tennis Center.
The Ducks (11-7, 2-4) two team points came from its two freshmen in the lineup, getting straight-set wins from Virginia Crocker at court three and Hinata Furutani at No. 5. It was the eighth singles win of the dual season and second in conference play for each player.
Illinois (9-7, 5-1) began the day by taking two of three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead. UO's top duo of Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons claimed a 6-4 win on court one, the pair's 12th win of the spring when paired together.
Three of Oregon's four Big Ten losses have come against ranked teams, while six of its seven overall losses have come against the nation's top 75.
As a team, Oregon boasts a 51-28 combined dual singles record to pair while going 30-13 in doubles play. The Ducks wrap up their home weekend against No. 60 Northwestern on Sunday at 11 a.m.
