
Two More Wins Against Portland

The Ducks improve to 11-10 after Sunday’s road wins.
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon beach volleyball team posted a pair of 4-1 road wins Sunday afternoon against Portland. With the results, the Ducks improve to 11-10 through the first five weeks of the year. Individually, senior Natasha George is the fourth player in program history to reach 40 career wins.
Match 20: Oregon 4, Portland 1
In the opener, the teams split the first two points with Hanna Bjornson and Sofia Taylor scoring first at No. 4 pairs. Portland pulled even with a straight-set win of its own on court two. The Ducks went back on top with a win at No. 1 by Bella Gamache and Liz Rossi. The first frame was tied at 11-all but the UO pair rattled off 10 of the final 14 points on their way to the team's second point.
George and Landree Coats clinched the opener with a dominant 21-9, 21-10 victory at No. 5 pairs. Daley McClellan and Elsa Snipes closed out the scoring with a 21-19, 21-9 win in the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

The Ducks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with near-simultaneous finishes at No. 2 and 4 pairs. George, this time teaming with Macy Furtwangler, was first off the court followed by McClellan and Snipes over on court two. While it was a milestone result for George, it doubled as the first-career lineup victory for Furtwangler.
Portland (4-11) cut its deficit in half with a three-set win at the top of the lineup but Bjornson and Taylor answered with a quick 21-9, 21-6 victory at No. 5 pairs to clinch the Ducks' second win of the day. In the last dual in play, Kendall Clark and AJ Slojkowski battled their way to a three-set victory on court three.
