Ducks Split Two Matches in Boise Opener

Oregon beat CSUN Friday morning for its 12th win of the season.
BOISE, Idaho – The Oregon beach volleyball team split a pair of dual matches Friday at the Boise State Beach Classic. The Ducks beat CSUN in the weekend opener for their 12th win of the season but lost to host and 20th-ranked Boise State in their second match of the day.
In a dual where all five points were decided in three sets, the Ducks posted a 3-2 win over CSUN in the weekend opener. The result matched the final score in the first meeting between the two teams three weeks ago at the Mustang Roundup.
Hanna Bjornson and Sofia Taylor picked up their 11th win as a pair with a 21-19, 18-21, 15-11 victory at No. 4 pairs. In a near identical scoreline, Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski pushed the UO lead to 2-0 with a 21-18, 18-21, 15-11 decision at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
The Ducks clinched the dual at No. 5 pairs where Landree Coats and Natasha George rallied from a set down for a 20-22, 21-16, 15-10 win. It was the 41st career victory for George, now just four shy of tying the individual program record.
With the victory in hand, the Ducks' No. 1 and 3 pairs forced decisive third sets but CSUN recorded the final two points of the match.
In Oregon's second match of the day, the host Broncos jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first wave and clinched the dual with a victory at the No. 1 pairs. The Ducks' No. 3 and 5 pairs found themselves in third sets in the remaining two matches but came up just short of registering a point.
