Split Two Matches in Arizona

The Ducks beat UTEP in their first match Saturday.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon beach volleyball team split a pair of duals Saturday at the Cactus Classic, picking up a win over UTEP in its first match of the day. With the day's results, the Ducks move to 5-4 this season.
Match 8: Oregon 5, UTEP 0
The Ducks registered their second sweep of the season with Saturday morning's 5-0 victory over UTEP. Hanna Bjornson and Sofia Taylor posted the first point with a 21-13, 21-17 win at No. 4 pairs followed closely by another straight-set win on court two from Daley McClellan and Elsa Snipes.
Landree Coats and Josie Griffiths secured Oregon's fifth win of the year at No. 5 pairs. The fourth point of the day came from Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski, their team-high sixth win of the season. From their No. 1 spot in the lineup Bella Gamache and Liz Rossi came away with a three-set victory—15-11 in the third—in the final match on court.

4: Bjornson/Taylor (ORE) def. Loera/Threet (UTEP) – 21-13, 21-17
5: Coats/Griffiths (ORE) def. Oporto/Schubert (UTEP) – 21-14, 21-15
Order of Finish: 4, 2, 5*, 3, 1
Match 9: #20 Arizona 4, Oregon 1
McClellan and Snipes completed a 4-0 weekend at No. 2 pairs with a 21-17, 21-13 decision, giving the Ducks their first point of the dual. With four wins this weekend, McClellan moves into fifth on the UO career wins list (29).
However, the host and 20th-ranked Wildcats came away with the last four points of the dual.
