
Ducks Down Flames to Stay Unbeaten at Home

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon won the doubles point and claimed five of six singles matches to defeat Liberty 6-1 on Friday at the Student Tennis Center. The Ducks stay unbeaten at home after the victory.
The Ducks (8-2) improved their strong start to the season with a balanced performance, taking the doubles point and closing out the Flames in singles play.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair and No. 28 ranked doubles team of Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca set the tone with a 6-3 victory over Siwanat Auytayakul and Carl Roothman. Vlad Breazu and Declan Galligan followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2 to secure the point for Oregon. The third match was left unfinished at 5-5. Oregon carried that momentum into singles.
Sam Olszakowski delivered one of the most decisive results of the day at No. 3, rolling past Auytayakul 6-1, 6-2. Breazu then earned a straight-set win at No. 1, defeating Rod Santiago Arraez 6-4, 6-3. Lachlan Robertson clinched the match at No. 5 with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 win, giving Oregon a 4-0 lead. The remaining matches would be played out.
Mouesca battled through a tight three-setter at No. 2, dropping the first set in a tiebreak before rallying for a 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-4), 10-7 victory. Cameron Burton capped the Ducks' scoring with a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 comeback at No. 6.
Liberty (4-4) avoided the sweep when David Ekpenyong outlasted Matthew Burton 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) at No. 4 singles.
