GLENCOE, Ill. – Oregon women's golf freshman Celina Yeo finished as the individual runner-up at the Windy City Classic on Tuesday at Lake Shore Country Club.Â
The No. 4 Ducks placed fourth as a team at 12-over par, with No. 11 Stanford winning at 4-over par. Oregon entered the final round in second place at 1 under before carding a 13-over 297 in a final round that saw no teams shoot under par.Â
Yeo earned the best finish by a Duck so far this season while playing in just her third collegiate tournament. She was the individual leader going into Tuesday after shooting 7-under par across 36 holes on Monday, and she finished second overall at 4-under par after a 3-over 74 in the final round. Virginia's Jaclyn LaHa was the individual medalist at 7 under.Â
"Really impressed with what Celina has done for us so far this fall, and certainly this week," head coach Derek Radley said. "She has worked really hard since arriving on campus and we saw that work translate on the course this week, especially yesterday with the two phenomenal rounds she put together. Her future is incredibly bright."
How it Happened: Yeo got off to a slower start on Tuesday after she had stretches of three straight birdies during each of the first two rounds on Monday. She bogeyed three of her first four holes, but then played even-par golf the rest of the way with a birdie at No. 9 and a bogey at No. 10.
For the week, Yeo led all players with 12 total birdies and was the top performer on par-5 holes at 5-under par.Â
