Defending Big Ten Champs Open Fall Ball on Oct. 12
09/12/25 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – Defending Big Ten champion Oregon will open fall ball with a doubleheader on Oct. 12 in the first of eight games the Ducks will host next month at Jane Sanders Stadium.
As in previous years, each game will have a charitable cause associated with it. All games will be free and open to the public.
The Ducks will play both Oregon Tech (12:30 p.m.) and Southwestern Oregon (3 p.m.) as part of a triple-header on Oct. 12.
Oregon will then face Boise State (12:30 p.m.) and Eastern Oregon (3 p.m.) on Oct. 18 with a doubleheader against Western Washington beginning at 11 a.m. the next day.
The Ducks will play a 10-inning game with Western Oregon on Oct. 22.
The fall season concludes Oct. 26 with an intrasquad game.
Big Ten head coach of the year Melyssa Lombardi is entering her eighth season in Eugene and #Version8 is looking to pick up where last year's Women's College World Series team left off. The 2026 squad will be led by All-Americans Lyndsey Grein (RHP) and Rylee McCoy (1B) and all-Big Ten performers Elise Sokolsky (RHP) and Kaylynn Jones (2B) and Stefini Ma'ake (DP/UTIL).
The Ducks also return Emma Cox and Braiesey Rosa, who split time at catcher last season, as well as Katie Flannery, a 62-game starter at third base, and Ayanna Shaw, who made 21 starts in the outfield.
They will be joined by the nation's No. 2 transfer class according to Softball America, Addison Amaral (Notre Dame), Elon Butler (California) and Amari Harper (Texas A&M). Also new to the team are freshmen Taryn Ho (Honolulu, Hawaii), Maddie Milhorn (Vancouver, Wash.) and Amanda Urbina (Whittier, Calif.).
Oregon went 54-10 a year ago and won the Big Ten with a 19-3 mark. The Ducks defeated Stanford in come-from-behind, walk-off fashion to win the Eugene Regional and then swept Liberty to earn the Eugene Super Regional championship and advance to the WCWS for the first time since 2018.
