Ducks Sending 43 to Regional Meet
05/22/25 | Track and Field
The NCAA West First Round takes place May 28-31 in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team will have 43 entries at the upcoming NCAA West First Round as released Thursday morning. This year's regional meet takes place May 28-31 in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
Additionally, national qualifiers in the combined events were announced Thursday and for the second-consecutive season, Annika Williams has earned a spot in the NCAA heptathlon field. Williams won the Big Ten title in the two-day, seven-event competition with a lifetime-best 5,914 points.
The Ducks' 43 regional entries—22 men, 21 women—are represented by 38 individuals and two relays. Oregon will have three athletes competing in two individual events with Simeon Birnbaum at 1500 and 5,000 meters, Annaleise Taylor in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles and Safin Wills in the long and triple jumps.
Birnbaum is one of three UO men in the 1500 along with Rheinhardt Harrison and Evan Dorenkamp. In the men's 10,000 meters, the Ducks will have five entries: Aiden Smith, Quincy Norman, Abdel Laadjel, Evan Bishop and Evan Burke. The Women of Oregon will have four in the 1500 with Silan Ayyildiz, Mia Barnett, Klaudia Kazimierska and Ella Thorsett.
To mirror the format of the upcoming national meet, the NCAA East and West First Rounds will be held over four days with alternating men's and women's programs. The East opening rounds will take place at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The men will compete Wednesday and Friday with the women on Thursday and Sunday.
From both sites, the top 12 in each event advances to the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (June 11-14) at Hayward Field. Tickets for national meet are currently on sale.
