Supers Set for Jane Sanders Stadium
05/22/25 | Softball
THIS WEEK
#16 Oregon clawed its way through the losers' bracket and defeated Stanford twice last Sunday to win the Eugene Regional. The Ducks will host Liberty, an upset winner against top-seeded Texas A&M, in a best-of-three Super Regional Friday-Sunday at Jane Sanders Stadium.
POSTSEASON DUCKS VS. LIBERTY
This is the third time in the last 17 months than an Oregon team has played a Liberty team in the postseason. The Ducks defeated the Flames, 45-6, in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl. In March, Oregon beat Liberty, 81-52, in the first round of the men's NCAA Tournament.
BIG TEN TROPHIES
The softball crown is one of eight Big Ten titles Oregon has won this academic year: Softball, Football, Women's XC, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, Women's Golf, Baseball and Men's Outdoor Track & Field. Eight titles leads the Big Ten.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
2,045 - Oregon is seventh nationally in average attendance (2,045).
41 - Oregon is 41-0 when it hits a home run in a game, and 10-8 when it doesn't.
2 - Kai Luschar need two steals to break the Big Ten season record (60).
10 - Oregon is the only team in the NCAA ranked in the top 10 in scoring, ERA and fielding.
4 - Oregon has set 4 season records: Runs (466), RBI (415), SB (166) and SF (25).
314 - Oregon is +314 in run differential (466-152). That leads the NCAA.
1x3 - Kai Luschar now holds UO records for steals in a game (4), season (58) and career (106).
SIMPLY THE BEST IN ALL THREE PHASES OF THE GAME
The Ducks are the only team in the nation ranked in the national top 10 in scoring, ERA and fielding. Oregon is fourth in scoring (7.90 runs per game), 10th in ERA (2.44) and fourth in fielding percentage (.981).
KAI SPEEDING TO 60
If she steals two more bases which would give her 60 on the season, Kai Luschar would join a couple of exclusive clubs. She'd become the single-season steals record holder in the Big Ten, passing Angie Marzetta of Washington who stole 59 bases in 1993. She would also become just the 15th player in NCAA Division I history to steal 60 bases in a season, and just the third to reach that milestone in the last 15 years.
SISTER ACT
Starting outfielders Kai Luschar (LF) and Kedre Luschar (CF) have combined for 155 hits and 118 runs. As a team, the Luschar sisters would rank 36th in the NCAA (and third in the Big Ten) in stolen bases with 85 combined. Kedre leads the team in doubles (17) and batting average (.453). Kai leads the NCAA with a program-record 58 steals. Both are seniors, though Kai, a fifth-year senior, is a year older.
KEDRE AMONG NATIONAL ELITE
Kedre Luschar is having a senior season for the ages. Recently named a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 finalist, Luschar is third in the Big Ten and 11th nationally with a .453 average. She's also ranked among the Big Ten's top five in hits (second), stolen bases (fourth), triples (third) and doubles (fourth).
DUCKS WIN FIRST BIG TEN TITLE, SEVENTH CONFERENCE CROWN OVERALL
Oregon took two-of-three from Michigan State the last week of league play to win the 2025 regular season Big Ten title by two games over UCLA. The Ducks won all eight conference series and swept five of them. It is Oregon's seventh conference softball championship in school history (1 Big Ten - 2025; 5 Pac-12 - 2013-16, 2018; 1 NWSCA - 1976).
DUCKS PACE BIG TEN IN PITCHING
Oregon is second in the Big Ten in earned run average (2.44) and is 10th nationally.
ELITE LEVEL DEFENSE
Defense has been a hallmark of coach Melyssa Lombardi's program since day one. The Ducks lead the Big Ten and are fourth nationally in fielding at .981, which would be a program record. Last season, the Ducks were again one of the best defensive teams in the nation. The Ducks were 24th nationally and fourth in the Pac-12 and in fielding percentage (.974). In 2022, Oregon led the Pac-12 and ranked 10th nationally with a .977 fielding percentage. That mark tied the program record set the year before (2021).
