The Ducks posted a 4-1 win over host Portland Wednesday afternoon.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon beach volleyball team got its week started with a 4-1 victory over Portland. Wednesday's win was the program's 20th all-time against Portland, its most against any other opponent. The Ducks are now 6-16 heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
The Ducks' first point of the day came from Hanna Bjornson and Kamilah Checani, posting a 21-6, 21-13 scoreline at No. 4 pairs. Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski followed with a straight-set win of their own at No. 2 pairs to close out the first wave of matches and give UO the 2-0 dual lead.
At the top of the lineup, Bella Gamache and Ella Tyus dropped the opening set to Annika Stammberger and Emily Wood but rallied—17-21, 21-19, 15-10—for the clinching point. Gamache and Tyus collected their eighth win of the season, tying them for the team lead with Natasha George and Liz Rossi.
The host Pilots got on the board with a sweep on at the No. 5 spot in the lineup but Landree Coats and Daley McClellan secured the final point of the afternoon with a 21-10, 21-15 triumph on court three. It was Coats' 17th-career win, good for sole possession of 14th in program history.
