Ducks Fall to Top-Five Opponents at Stanford

Oregon faces No. 16 GCU and No. 3 USC on Saturday.
STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team suffered a pair of 5-0 setbacks to top-five teams Friday at the MPSF Mid-Season Rumble. The Ducks fell to top-ranked UCLA before dropping a dual to weekend host and No. 5 Stanford. Oregon (3-6) takes on two more top-20 teams Saturday on day two of the Bay Area round robin.

Playing a second-consecutive three setter at the top spot against a ranked team, Bella Gamache and Ella Tyus rallied from a set down to force a third at No. 1 pairs. The duo went up 4-1 in the final frame before Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez rattled off eight of the next 11 points for the lead. The Ducks saved a match point at 14-11 before dropping the final dual point of the weekend opener.
