Men's Tennis Heads to Michigan

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's tennis team makes their way to Michigan to open conference play with matches in Ann Arbor and East Lansing. The No. 54 ranked Ducks will face the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines on March 7 before taking on the No. 47 ranked Spartans of Michigan State on March 9.

The weekend is set to feature a number of ranked pairings as the Ducks make their Big Ten debut. Oregon's own Lenn Luemkemann came in at 116 in the latest ITA rankings, with a 7-6 singles record so far. The are 8-4 through their first weeks of non-conference competition. Last season, as members of the Pac-12 conference, the Ducks went 4-0 against Big Ten teams.
Michigan has two ranked singles players, No. 61 Benjamin Kittay and No. 87 Gavin Young. Kittay is part of two ranked doubles teams, ranking seventh when partnered with Young and 85th with Patorn Hanchaikul. The Ducks and Wolverines have met just once before, resulting in a Michigan win in 2020.
Michigan State is led by No. 4 singles player Ozan Baris. Their lineup includes No. 21 Aristotelis Thanos, No. 63 Matthew Forbes and No. 78 Max Sheldon, while Thanos and Baris make up the No. 53 ranked doubles team. This will mark the first ever matcup between the Ducks and Spartans.
