Ducks Set for First Big Ten Tournament

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon women's basketball team heads to its first-ever Big Ten Tournament as the eight seed, where the Ducks will take on ninth-seeded Indiana Thursday at 9 a.m. PT at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Ducks defeated the Hoosiers in the season's first meeting, 54-47, on Jan. 24 at Matthew Knight Arena. UO ended the game on a 10-0 run over the final four minutes and got a team-high 14 points from Peyton Scott.
The win gave Oregon a 3-0 lead in the all-time series with IU, with this season's earlier matchup being the first since the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Oregon finished the regular season with a 64-56 loss at Washington on Sunday. Based on results from earlier in the day, the Ducks were locked into the eight seed before their game hit halftime.
The Ducks got a game-high 22 points from Deja Kelly, matching her season high. Kelly, who added five rebounds and a season-best four steals, has scored at least 20 points in four of her last five games.
Peyton Scott added 10 points and three assists, while Ehis Etute came off the bench to score six points and haul in seven rebounds.
Oregon, who trailed by three at halftime and got within three points with under three minutes to go, shot just 24.1 percent in the second half and was outscored in the paint 26-10.
SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana (18-11, 10-8) comes into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 9 seed, snapping a two-game skid with a 77-57 win at Purdue to close the regular season. The Hoosiers have won six of their last 10 regular-season games.
Yarden Garzon, an all-Big Ten second-team selection, leads IU at 14.1 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent from the 3-point line to go with 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Sydney Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points a game, with Shay Ciezki (11.3) and Karoline Striplin (10.1) rounding out four Hoosiers who average double figures.
Garzon finished the regular season as the Big Ten leader in 3-point percentage (40.4) and made 3-pointers (76) while finishing second in 3-pointers per game (2.6).
As a team, Indiana is third in the league in both 3-point shooting at 36.2 percent and made 3-pointers per game with 7.8.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Oregon has claimed all three meetings with Indiana, including a 54-47 win in Eugene earlier this season on Jan. 25. The game marked the first matchup between the sides since the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament, which the Ducks prevailed 91-68 at Matthew Knight Arena.
In the season's first meeting, guard Peyton Scott led the Ducks with 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers to lead UO to a comeback victory. UO trailed by three, 45-42, with less than five minutes to play and closed the game on a 10-0 run over the final four minutes. Ehis Etute came off the bench to score nine points and grab eight boards, helping Oregon to 27 bench points - half of its total for the game. The Ducks led for only 3:35 of game time and trailed by as many as 10 in the second half.
DUCKS IN THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
Oregon enters its first-ever Big Ten Tournament, earning a first-round bye as the No. 8-seed. In the conference tournament under 11th-year head coach Kelly Graves, Oregon is 12-8 in conference tournament games while winning two Pac-12 Tournament titles in a three-year span (2018, 2020).
CLUTCH DUCKS
The Ducks are no strangers to close games this season. Oregon's 68-67 comeback win over Washington on Feb. 12 marked UO's fifth victory by two points or less this season, with the Ducks going unbeaten in those games. UO trailed by five at halftime and by as many as eight points in the game, as it has trailed at the half in three of its last five wins. The Ducks trailed by 10 points at half against Iowa on Jan. 19 and by three against Indiana on Jan. 24. The Ducks trailed by multiple possessions in each of their last five wins: 15 points against the Hawkeyes, 10 against the Hoosiers, eight points against the Huskies, nine at Minnesota and five vs. Rutgers.
» The five games decided by two points or less are tied for the most in the nation, while the Ducks are the only team to be unbeaten in five two-point games this season.
» The five such victories are Oregon's most since at least 2009-10.
» Additionally, the Ducks are 6-1 in games decided by four points or less, with three of those wins coming in January. UO's 94-90 overtime loss at Nebraska on Feb. 19 stands as its only loss in games decided by four points or less.
