Softball Opens League Play at UW

THIS WEEK
No. 8 Oregon opens Big Ten play with a three-game series at Washington Friday through Sunday. The trip north also includes a nonconference game at Seattle U on Monday. Saturday's game (noon) will be the Ducks' first appearance on Big Ten Network.

DUCK DUO RECOGNIZED FOR SHUTTING OUT No. 8 FLORIDA STATE
Lyndsey Grein and Elise Sokolsky both threw shutouts of No. 8 Florida State at the Jane Sanders Classic. Grein held the Seminoles to one hit - none after the first inning - as only three batters reached base. She struck out five in the Ducks 2-0 win (3/7). Sokolsky was just as dominant. She blanked FSU on just two hits, struck out five and walked none in Oregon's 1-0 victory (3/9). They were selected as Softball America's co "Stars of the Week."
GREIN SHINES VS. TOP 25
Lyndsey Grein hasn't allowed a run in 16.2 innings against NFCA Top 25 competition this season. Prior to her one-hitter vs. Florida State (3/7), she kept No. 5 Tennessee, No. 22 Missouri and No. 25 San Diego State off the board at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Grein is 3-0 versus the Top 25 with 20 strikeouts, four hits and eight walks.

As a team, Oregon leads the NCAA with 97 steals. Individually, Kai Luschar is second nationally with 30 steals.

Starting outfielders Kai Luschar (LF) and Kedre Luschar (CF) have combined for 61 hits, 45 runs and 42 stolen bases. Kedre leads the team in batting average (.463) and runs (31) and is second in slugging percentage (.723) and on-base percentage (.485). In addition to leading the Big Ten in steals, Kai leads the team in hits (31) and walks (15). Both are seniors, though Kai, fifth-year senior, is a year older.
